New Jalpaiguri Stn 0730- Tenzing Norway bus stand by auto 0900
Tenzing Norway bustand boarded Gangtok/Kalimpong bound bus and was dropped at Kalijhora 1030. Trick is to buy a ticket all the way to Gangtok/Kalimpong and get dropped at Kalijhora which is only 45minutes journey and just 5 minutes from Sevoke bridge. I got into the Gangtok bound bus and paid only Rs 40 but got slightly delayed. From Kalijhora to Hornbill nest homestay in Latpanchar 13kms was picked up by a dedicated vehicle for Rs 700/-. One hour drive to Latpanchar. Post lunch birding down hill. Keep HB nest homestay behind and go left and down. Take a birding guide. Slope quiet steep in the jungles. Birding till about 4 pm. Some more birding around the hornbill nest homestay area. Early to bed. Dinner was served by 2000hrs.
Next day morning 0600 went with birding guide Pranesh down the road from Latpanchar to Kalijhora for 3km and got back to Latpanchar by 1230hrs. Post some more birding around the homestay boarded a shared Sumo 1400 hrs. to Siliguri for Rs 80/-. This was tied up by Mr Padam Gurung of the home stay. Food at homestay basic but no stomach upset had normal available water.

Birding on Latpanchar-Kalijhora road for 3kms one way. Sunrise on the way. Turned back after spotting the barred owlet. Released the guide since guide timing is 0600-1000. Trekked all the way back. Another option is to continue trek till Kalijhora birding all the way, reach at about 1500 and proceed to Siliguri. In that case miss lunch.
